A freind asked me what do i during the summer months when football seasons have finished do i bet on the friendly games?
My answer was a complete and firm NO!
Betting on friendly games is a complete rookie mistake. In my first year of professional gambling it was the summer of 2006. The world cup and premiership had ended and i had made so much money during that time that i wanted to carry on! It was exciting for me to be earning so much money that i was addicted! (Still am, but not as bad!)
Anyway, it was late july and i spotted what looked like a great game that fit one my football betting systems. I piled in and got stung big time. I put the loss down to just “one of those things” and went in again on a game later that day. As the complete rookie that i was i even upped my stake to cover the previous loss. And guess what? I got stung again! Never trust spurs i say!
That was a massive dent to me.
Call me stupid all you like but i then went and made a similar mistake in the 2007 summer. I didnt pile on as much cash but thought i had spotted a great opportunity. Only to get stung once again!
From their on, i had to install my policy of never ever betting on friendly matches, not even the international ones. If you do then you are asking for trouble.
You may feel the urge to have a bet at what is a quiet time but as i write this there is only 2 more weeks before the premier league launches and we can get stuck in!
So take it from me! Never ever bet during off season!
Rich!
