Well I feel like a kid waking up on christmas morning! Even though we had a world cup the summer break still seemed just as long and the return of the premier league is well over due!
I havent done all my research on todays matches just yet, I actually like to leave my research till the day of the game so I can assess team news and other mitigating factors.
However, just browsing the fixtures a few things sprung out at me. This is just my off the top of my head thoughts, i havent done full research yet.
- Spurs have an excellent record against Man City, or rather Man City have a very poor record against spurs. This has been reflected slightly in the price as Spurs are trading around 2.32. However, I dont think that means Spurs will run out comfortable winners. Especially with the champions league qualifier coming up on Tuesday, I believe both teams would be happy with a draw here.
- Aston Villa are trading around 2 for their match against West Ham. A team in complete disarray after losing their manager facing a team that appear to be rejuvenated by the arrival of Avram Grant. No way Villa should be at 2 for this match and im expecting my football betting systems will suggest this as a lay. I will look at it closer later and make my decision.
- Chelsea today are a little bit too short @ 1.20 They will probably win but Chelsea pre-season form hasnt been great so i dont think we will see another 8-0 win here. I am going to look at the price on the West Brom handicap for this one. I expect West Brom to park the bus and Under 2.5 with a view to trading the bet throughout the match could be another good option.
All in all, I had better get cracking on my full research instead of giving a rambling analysis.
