Well the opening football weekend was interesting and some of the results highlighted exactly why I was so hesitant to get involved.
I watched the southhampton match and they werent looking very good, definitly not good enough to warrant a starting price of 1.70! I stayed away and was right as they lost 0-1. I was planning to apply the football trading system to this match which would have actually been a winner but it would have been an uncomfortable ride thats for sure!
I was surprised that Chelsea were so poor against Manchester United. United didnt even seem to raise a sweat to dispatch of the champions. Again the match was a no bet for me. Most people will say you cant read too much into pre season form but Chelsea have lost all their pre season games now so that is hardly ideal preperation for the new season. Perhaps losing Joe Cole, Ballack and Deco has affected them more then we first thought. I have a 4 figure punt on Chelsea retaining their title once again so this might be more interesting then I want it to be!
Talking of 4 figure punts i was tempted to lump onto bristol city for promotion this season, perhaps with a view to trading the bet further down the line. However, the championship is such a wierd league that throws up wierd results i wanted to wait untill 6 games have been played. Looks like I was right to do so as bristol slumped to a an odd 0-3 defeat to Milwall. Time will tell but the championship looks like an even more open league then normal so I will probably just stay away.
This weeks sees international friendlies and carling cup matches, all usual games that are No-bets for me. Im sure I can hold onto my discipline for just one more week to get stuck into the real stuff!
